The Cold Swedish Winter

It's currently -16 ° C in Gotenburg. Very cold but at the same time so beautiful. When the sun shines on the white snow it creates such a lovely light. Today I took a walk with my friend Katti around a lake called Härlanda Tjärn, located on the east side of Gothenburg. During our walk I took some pictures of the beautiful and frosty winter landscape. Hope you enjoy!

Simplicity

My studio is currently in a big big mess. I need to get more organized but it's always difficult when it comes to your workspace. All things in here are searching for chaos - needles are on the floor and threads are all over my socks!

Later this week I will hopefully be able to show you the first little sneak peaks from the S/S 12 collection.

I'm very fond of origami folding at the moment and I recently spent some evenings making more paper cranes that I could decorate my apartment with. The cranes are now attached to the roof and every time I look up at the ceiling and see the them spinning slowly I feel calm and inspired. I think it has to do with the simple and very sublte expression origami somehow gives. I like that that both the process of folding and then looking at the result gives you a sort of detoxed feeling. Origami rocks!

January days

January is the month when a lot of things are happening. I'm currently working on the S/S 12 collection, so the days since the new year started has been filled with sketching, choosing fabrics, making patterns and sewing. It's such a fun and inspiring time but unfortunately it makes me very busy so that's why the blog has been a little quiet lately.

Today I just wanted to do a post to let you know that I'm still here and I hope I will be able to show you some sneak peaks of the work process of the new collection during the upcoming weeks.

The cup on the first picture is from the Danish interior brand Ferm Living and the sweet illustration on the cup is made by the Norwegian design bureau Darling Clementine. I just love it when two great brands do collaborations together!

In Between Holidays

The days between New Year's eve and Twelfth Day always feels a bit slow. I'm still a bit in the "in between holidays mood" but the work routines in the studio are slowly coming back together again.

I'm very excited about the new year, and as you know I look very much forward to spring and summer, since they are my favourite seasons of the year. At the moment I'm also working hard on getting the Spring/Summer 2012 collection ready to present to you!

Yesterday I got myself a beautiful new notebook from Orla Kiely. It's always a great thing to start the new year with a new notebook or a sketchbook :)

Happy New Year to all of you! I can't believe 2011 is about to end, but I look very much forward to 2012. It's been sunny and lovely in Gothenburg today, it almost feels like spring is here already.

Paper Flowers and Paper Cranes

Just after the holidays I usually feel a bit restless and on Christmas day I was scrolling through one of my favourite decoration blogs when I found a post called Pyssla en pappersblomma. English translation: Fold a paper flower. In the post there was a link to this little video on how to fold beautiful paper flowers. After watching the video I folded some flowers out of patterned paper and once you learned how to do it it was really easy and fun!

Afterwards I also decided to fold a paper crane which was a bit more difficult but after watching this tutorial it suddenly became feasible. Origami has been really popular in Sweden for a while but I've always thought it was too difficult for some reason, so I never tried it. As you know I'm very fond of flowers and birds, so now I can't wait to find some more patterned paper and perhaps some newspaper so I can fold a whole little collection of cranes and flowers to decorate my apartment with. Let the folding begin! :)

I finally managed to find myself a beautiful Christmas tree this year and every time I see it it makes me smile. It was definitely worth every penny :)

Cups of Coffee

I know I might have mentioned it before but Sweden is so dark this time of year. I feel almost wiped out some days because of the lack of daylight. One must try to do as many cheerful things as possible this time of the year to not get tired or fall into a low mood. Put up Christmas decorations, eat good food, listen to good music, do creative things, do fun exercise and spend time with friends and family helps. And drinking coffee helps a bit too, especially when there is a little collection of cups to choose from that I have collected over the years! Above are some pictures of a few of them.

As promised, this week there will be a little surprise on the blog - actually it's tomorrow already! Can't wait!

Christmas mood

Some pictures from this week. I feel very much in a Christmas mood at the moment. This year I decided to bring out a special Christmas table cloth that I inherited from my grandmother. I like the pattern on it with the cute rabbits and the girls, boys and the little birds dancing together in a ring.

Another favourite Christmas decoration for this year is my angel chimes. I'm not sure if it's such a popular Christmas decoration anymore, even though they are still being produced. I always feel very nostalgic when looking at it and it makes me remember celebrating Christmas as a child. My parents always made me put the parts of the angel chimes together and then we listened to the sound of the angels striking the bells while the candles were burning.

I know the blog has been a little bit quiet lately, but next week there will be a little surprise! So stay tuned for updates!

Oh, and one last thing:
If you happen to be in Gothenburg at the moment you should definitely visit the Christmas market Julform at Wernstedthallen inside of Röhsska museet - if you haven't already! Tomorrow is the last day they are open. My friend Elisabeth Dunker from Fine Little Day is one of the exhibitors. Some of the things she sells at the market are also available in her lovely shop.

My friend Klara Bothén is also one of the exhibitors at the market and she sells her beautiful hand-knitted mittens called "Granliden" there. In order to have a little stock of mittens available for the market Klara's grandmother helped her knit some of them :) If you are not able to visit the market you should definitely visit Klara's blog and her shop and have a closer look at the Granliden mittens there instead. They are so pretty!

Today I'm sharing some pics of pink tulips I bought last week. Flowers always brightens up the work days in the studio! I'm so happy to see that the flower stores carries tulips again, they haven't been around here in Sweden since late spring.

Paper birds

A while ago I bought these birds at Ikea. They are Christmas decorations called "Yrsnö". I'm very fond of them and I like that you can have them hanging around during the rest of the year too.

Since the birds are made out of paper they are very easy to make your own alternative versions of. If you have some thicker paper you can use it to make a bird body and if you have normal paper you can use it to fold the wings. To insert the wings you can just make a rektangular hole in the bird body. White paper doilies or tissue paper in different colours instead of normal paper are also nice alternatives to use to fold the wings in.

I'm starting this week with coffee pictures and some close-up pics from the studio. Sweden is so dark and gloomy right now. But during these days it is rather nice to be able to stay inside and create a cosy atmosphere with lightning and lots of coffee here in the studio.

Christmas fika

Christmas has already started in Gothenburg. All the stores have already sort of jumped the gun when it comes to Christmas decorations, flowers and food for this festive season and all of the streets are covered in Christmas lightning.

As some of you already know there isn't really an English word that describes the Swedish word "fika" so very well. The closest one is "having coffee". So I will just go ahead and use the Swedish word. Today I had my first Christmas fika this year - coffee and a saffron bun! I wasn't really planning on getting into a Christmas mood until the 1st of December, but I guess I just couldn't wait :)

Pink carnations

My pink carnations are singing on their last waltz now. They have lasted for three weeks though! I've come to discover that they are sweet and beautiful flowers to have around and so long lasting. When I was younger I didn't really like them. Some say they are "filler flowers" and I thought that too for a while, but then a few years ago it was as if I suddenly had a newfound love for them.

My grandmother liked carnations too, she would often have little bouquets of them in her home. And my mother carried red ones in her wedding bouquet when she married my dad.

I found a bear

In the end of the summer I found a wooden bear. He was a little damaged - the varnish was gone, some paint from his nose was on his cheek and he was in two pieces when I spotted him at a place in Gothenburg that sells damaged goods. He had been rescued from a warehouse that had been filled with water due to a flood in Copenhagen this summer.

The bear is new and made out of oak and maple. He was designed by Kay Bojesen, who also designed the wooden monkey in the picture. The monkey is rather old and made out of teak and limba. My dad had him as a kid and later on he gave him to me when I was a child.

The bird is made out of teak and pine. Unlike the bear and the monkey who functions mainly as design objects, he is a utility object - because he has a corkscrew hidden inside :) I found him in a vintage store a few years ago. His hairdo reveals that he might be a woodpecker. I'm not sure who designed him, even though I think he resembles the bear and the monkey a lot - apart from the eyes :)

Fabriken - Part I

Louise Friestedt and Johan Larsson both have a great sense when it comes to finding beautiful things and started to collect vintage items many years ago. In October last year they opened the store Fabriken (english translation: The Factory) with a range of furniture, furnishings and clothing from 1900 to now. Fabriken is located in a beautiful space at Ekedalsgatan in Majorna, the vest part of Gothenburg. Last week I had a chance to stop by before closing time to take some pictures.

Fabriken's environment is very welcoming, cosy, beautifully decorated and artfully arranged, with nice carpets, pretty garlands in each window and pendants and chairs hanging from the ceiling. The shop is filled with all sorts of old and new treasures worth saving up your pennies for - dining groups, beautiful chairs, vintage leather bags, big neon letters, Burberry coats, brogues, cufflinks, school posters, cookie jars, toys, maps of the world, men's shirts, pretty photo frames, porcelain figures, wooden animals, vases and clocks among other things.

F I N A L L Y!

Up The Wooden Hills A/W 11 collection is now ready and I'm so happy to be able to share with you some of the pictures from the A/W 11 photoshoot we did last weekend. A big thank you to all of you for being so patient. And also a million thanks to the great photographer Beata Rydén who captured the new collection so beautifully and to lovely Hanna Lindblad who modeled in each piece.

It’s always so inspiring to work together in a small team with creative and talented people. Despite uncertain weather conditions in Gothenburg during this month I’m forever grateful that it was a sunny morning when got into the car and drove off to shoot the collection on location last Saturday.

I knew from the start when I began to draw the sketches for AW11 that I wanted to focus less on quantity and instead create fewer pieces that felt classic, comfortable and functional. Garments that people would be able to love, wear, feel happy in and keep for a long period of time. Pieces that could also be re-used in other collections but in different styles. So in the end the result was this collection, consisting of six pieces, including the Emilia dress from S/S 11 in a style, that you might already have seen captured in a summer editorial earlier this year by photographer Anja Verdugo from Clever Nettle.

I do hope you enjoy these first pictures of the new collection! I’m very excited to share some more pictures from the photoshoot so I’ve decided to also do seperate blog posts on each garment here in the blog, starting on Monday!

I'm so sorry for my lack of absence here lately! The summer has been quite hectic - but in a good way! I hope you all had a great year so far and hopefully there are still some nice days left of the summer to look forward to before the fall season begins for real.

I would like to say thank you to all of you lovely ladies who ordered an Up The Wooden Hills dress during this spring and summer! It's been so much fun to make them all and to see them go to different destinations all over the world :) I've spent all of my days working in the studio and it has been so much fun :)

I'm very happy to also tell all of you blog readers that Up The Wooden Hills Autumn/Winter collection 2011 is about to take form as we speak and I'm very excited to show you the finished pieces soon.

I’m so excited to finally share with you these beautiful photos that Anja Verdugo from Clever Nettle took for her summer editorial Belle Été that was published a few days ago. I was so happy when Anja contacted me a while ago and told me about her ideas for a summer countryside photoshoot that she was “putting together a wardrobe with light, natural and summery pieces” for and asked me if I wanted to send something along. I sent a sample of an Emilia dress in a light blue Liberty fabric with a white floral pattern that I thought might reflect a summery feeling.

The shoot took place at an empty old historic house called the Bybee-Howell house located on Sauvie Island in Portland and the wardrobe also featured lovely pieces from independent designers Nadinoo and Anna Allen. Anja worked with a small team, including stylist Megan Hart from Summerland, whom she also did the wonderful shoot La Dance with earlier this year.

Seeing these photos makes me long for summers like this in my parents old house in the country where you could just sit out on the porch and read a good book or lay flat on the back in the grass all day long.

Thank you Anja for letting me contribute to this lovely shoot. It was such a great honour to have the Emilia dress captured so beautifully and to have it featured together with two other designers that I admire so much.

One Day In The Woods

Remember the project I told you about a while ago? Well, I'm so delighted to finally share this short film with the title One Day In The Woods that is the result of it. The whole project was a collaboration that I did with my friends Henrik and Joni, who runs the small production company Henry & Joe's Golden Carnival, based in Gothenburg. The film features one of the Emilia dresses worn by my friend Malin, who I was lucky enough to have as the model in the film.

I can't tell you how much fun it has been to do this project and I'm very happy about how it turned out. We shot on a sunny day in Gothenburg's Botanical Gardens in the beginning of May and it was such a thrill to see Henrik and Joni filming, directing and setting up the scenes for Malin. All the editing has been done by Henrik and Joni, and they also composed the music together with their friend Miklo.

Below are some pictures I took on when we were out shooting the film in the woods of the Botanical Gardens.

Fine Little Day was here

As some of you may have already noticed Elisabeth Dunker of Fine Little Day came to visit me about two weeks ago and took some pictures of my little apartment. I was so delighted to have her here and we had such a great time, talking for hours, eating cake and drinking tea. I hope to meet Elisabeth some day soon again. She was so lovely and it's always very inspiring to meet other creative people.

Audrey Grace Boutique

It's Friday again and I'm so happy to announce Up The Wooden Hills first stockist in the United States - Audrey Grace Boutique.

Audrey Grace Boutique is a new store that will open as a pop up shop in November and it will be located in Jackson, Mississippi. The person behind is a wonderful lady by the name of Jaclyn Bethany. As you might be able to tell, her boutique is inspired by all things that has to do with Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly. Two admirable women, style icons and constant inspirations through the years.

I'm very excited and honoured that Up The Wooden Hills dresses are going to be available at this store together with brands like Tba, Alexandra Grecco, Katie-Louise Ford, Rachel Antonoff and Eleanor's Riot among others. At the moment I'm also working on a little collaboration with two dress models that will be especially made for Audrey Grace and available to order in the boutique.

When I think of Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly I always see them wearing beautiful dresses with the typical 1940's and 1950's silhouette, and I feel very inspired by that silhouette at the moment too when I'm making the special designed dresses for Audrey Grace Boutique.

I've adored Audrey Hepburn as long as I can remember and when I sat down to watch the film Funny Face for the first time about six years ago the image of Hepburn's character Jo Stockton wearing a beige hood parka with a black polo, black pants and black flat shoes really got to me and still does today. So simple and yet so pretty and stylish. When I looked for images of Grace Kelly I managed to find one from a photoshoot on a vacation in Jamaica were she wears beige shorts and a light green shirt with rolled up sleeves. I think it's the essence of a more casual look or "tomboy style" in those two pictures above that really inspires me a lot, both when it comes to designing and my own way of dressing. My heart beats faster for garments that have a more comfortable look and relates to an easier lifestyle, but still manages to be classic, elegant and immortal at the same time - elements that I will also try to incorporate in the special designs for Jaclyn's boutique.

I think these images of Audrey and Grace will continue to inspire me for a long time and the garments they wear like the parka and the classic shirt are pieces of clothing I will always adore. And details like the rolled upp sleeves is an element that is almost mandatory for me now :)

This year's first bouquet of peonies

I bought my first bouquet of Sarah Bernhardt peonies a couple of days ago. I’m always very excited to see them pop up during end of spring at various flower markets and flower shops around town.

I've loved peonies since I was a child and I still remember watching the beautiful and splendid ones that grew wild in my grandmothers blossoming garden. They are without a doubt my favourite kind of flower together with big light yellow roses and persian buttercups. Somehow I also find that the scent of them - especially the Sarah Bernhardt ones, nowdays reminds me of spending summer days at my grandmother’s house, making pancakes for lunch, sitting out on her porch - drinking coffee under a parasol with flower prints and picking currants and raspberrys in her garden.

I guess I can't seem to get enough of flowers, especially when they bring back these lovely memories from the past.

I really miss my grandmother today. This post is dedicated to her.

Behind the scenes: A shoot in the woods

About two weeks ago I was out in the woods with Henrik and Joni, doing a shoot for a little project & collaboration we are currently working on. This blurry picture is the first sneak peak behind the scenes of it. It was a beautiful sunny day when we shot on location and we were also very excited to work with Malin, another friend of mine and a lovely lady who agreed to model for the shoot.

During these last two weeks the project has been edited and at the moment we are about to finish the last details. I can't wait to tell you more about it and show you the finished product as well as some more pictures behind the scenes very soon.

Oh, my! What's happening to all of these days, they just seem to fly by and I've been busy sitting by the sewing machine a lot :) I got a bit of a shock yesterday when I took a walk and realised it was suddenly summer weather in Sweden, already!

Some interesting things are happening this week. A very inspiring person is going to visit me here in my home and studio, I will reveal who she is in a few days.

I've also started working on a little project that is a collaboration with a small production company run by some friends of mine. Stay tuned for updates :)

Sheer dresses, sheer beauty

After reading Fieldguided’s post about sheer blouses I noticed that a lot of stores in Sweden carries garments in sheer fabrics these days and my own wardrobe even has a small collection of them including blouses, dresses and skirts, both old and new - in silk, cupro and polyester. My favourite is a pleated sheer dress in muted pink that I bought in springtime 2007 (picture #4). I think it will probably be a part of my wardrobe for the rest of my life if nothing bad happens to it. I only wear it on very special occassions since I think it's a bit too pretty to wear often. In the meantime it hangs on my wall so I can look at it everyday for inspiration, almost like a piece of art :)

I recently bought two slevless sheer dresses with ruffles (same model, different colours) from H&M made of recycled polyester which equals recycled fibres from petbottles or textile waste. The dresses were a part of their conscious collection - a line of clothes made out of more environmental friendly produced materials, that besides recycled polyester includes tencel (lyocell) and organic cotton. I think it’s great that bigger companys within the fashion industry are starting become a bit more conscious about their impact on the environment. And the use of more sustainable materials is one step in a better direction. I just hope they will consider to improve the working conditions for their employees in their factories soon enough too.

Last Saturday I went to a flea market with my friend Linnéa. I found some white cups and saucers with flower patterns to add to my cup collection. At the very first glance I thought they looked a bit tacky, standing there on a shelf in a sad dark basement. But after a while I thought that the flower pattern was kind of sweet, so I decided to buy them and they seem to fit well with the interior in my apartment :)

Hello all of my dear readers!
I'm so sorry that I haven't posted anything in the blog lately. I blame the Swedish weather - which is the most common subject matter here nowdays it seems :) It's been grey, rainy, windy and gloomy in Gothenburg in the latest two weeks and it's been really hard to find inspiration and taking pictures has been a bit difficult because of the grey light. But these last two days have been a bit warmer and sunny so I guess there is still hope that spring is just around the corner. I hope you are all having a great weekend! The Gentlewoman issue #3

The spring/summer 2011 issue of The Gentlewoman came out in Sweden this week. The new issue celebrates opinionated and passionate women who are taking the international stage - women the magazine refers to as "true icons of the modern age, encouraging others with their intelligence, wit and style". The new number features interviews with singer Adele Adkins, writer Fatima Bhutto and Sarah (creative director of Colette) among others.

The latest issue also includes fashion reports with outfits focusing on rear view for elegant evening looks and beautiful flowing long skirts - typically gentlewoman style.

Speaking of colours lately this number features an article titled "Colourations" with the Gentlewoman's spring/summer 11 palette including the colours tomato, armani blue, butter, indian jade, sunbaked tan, fuchsia and aloe green. As a contrast to the the very colourful palette "a total universe of whiteness" is also proposed in an article with white garments only.

...In other words the latest issue of The Gentlewoman is a must read!

I realised that I haven't shown you any pictures from my studio yet, so I took some more detailed pictures this week. My studio is currently located in my small apartment in Gothenburg. I'm going to take a few more pictures soon so I can show you more of how my work space looks!

Yesterday me and my friend Rachel took a small trip to the countryside. It was really sunny and it finally felt like spring was here. We might have been a bit too optimistic however, because even though it was sunny it was still very very cold outside and icy winds were blowing, so it was really hard to get photographs without my hair flying all over the place all the time :) But the spring light was amazing and we were so happy to at least get a glimpse of the sun after a very long gloomy and grey Swedish winter.

Flowers are in our hearts

They say that flowers are the essence of beauty and they are also known to have a very positive effect on us and our health.

As you’ve probably already noticed I’m very found of flowers, blossoming gardens and floral patterns on garments and interior design - textiles, wallpapers and decoration pieces.

I few years ago I sat down to watch the beautiful film Atonement and I was directly amazed by the movie’s costume and set design. The first part of the movie takes place somewhere in the British countryside on a Victorian mansion during the 1930’s. Art Deco was a very trendy style at the time but the mansion and its garden in full bloom in the summer feels more like the home or reminiscence of Art Noveau with its use of flowers, floral patterns and soft pastels.

Note the vase in the first picture with the typical “Art Noveau” organic floral pattern. It's almost a bit too much, but I kind of like it :)

The beautiful tie blouse with the white floral pattern, the longer silk skirt with a graphic print in muted colours that the character Cecilia (Keira Knightley) wears in the pictures together with the shorter hairstyle and the bouquet of peonies and other summer flowers lives on and on in my mind and works as a great inspiration to me.

I’ve always liked pink when it comes to aesthetics and interior design. I have pink towels and plates and cups with pink patterns in my apartment. And when it comes to flowers I especially buy the pink ones.

Soft/light pink has always been my favorite colour since I was a child, and when I was about 7 years old my dad asked me what colour we should paint our house in and then I said “light pink”. We looked on a colour map and picked out a soft pink colour together and a few months later my dad had painted our whole house in pink. I almost couldn’t believe it and I remember being very proud of my dad for painting the house in my favorite colour. When I think about this memory today it makes me smile a lot and I wonder if that's the reason why I'm still very much into pink :)

Lately it has come to my attention that I also tend to look out for pink when it comes to clothes. It’s however not hot, shocking or babydoll pink, but more kind of a nude, light, soft or muted pink. I haven’t really worn lighter shades of pink on clothes that much before until very recently. My favorite colour on clothes has always been different shades of blue, especially light blue (and still is).

I have a few muted pink garments in my wardrobe dated back a few years ago but last fall it started to become more. My shopping for clothes took a more conceptual turn and I felt - and still feel a bit like a magpie when I visit clothing stores - except that I’m not looking for all that glitters, instead my eye is automatically drawn to everything that is in a light shade of pink. I also think it has to do with the fact that that particular colour is very trendy at the moment and Swedish stores like H&M and Monki are filled with garments in muted shades of pink.

These shades of pink feels very subtile and gentle and I’m glad that it’s possible to wear them without being afraid of feeling dressed out rather than dressed up. But I do however feel a little rebellic when I go out all dressed in pink, even if it’s very very soft muted pink :)

F i n a l l y ! Sorry for keeping you guys waiting so long!

As you can see Up The Wooden Hills has very slowly evolved into a clothing label. I've had this idea for a couple of years but it was first during last spring that I created a dress that somehow felt like the essence of what I wanted my own clothing label to be and stand for - something pretty, simple, playful, comfortable and dapper. I made the first dress in a cotton Liberty print fabric called "Phoebe". After that I was certain that I wanted to continue to use Liberty fabrics since they are very pleasant to work with - so I created three more styles of the same dress model. The four styles would later turn into the actual first collection.

Since the S/S 2011 collection only consists of one dress model - titled the "Emilia dress" the whole thing is more like a dress project than a regular collection. One of the ideas behind just having one design for S/S 2011 was that "more" doesn't always mean "better" - that lesser matters and the old kliché about choosing quality rather than quantity.

But "The Emilia Dress" is just the beginning. For Autumn/Winter 2011 a more regular, (but still small) collection with more designs will be made and presented.

New year, new start

Happy new year everyone! Let's all hope that 2011 will be a better year than 2010.

During the beginning of this month I wrote that I was going to reveal a project to you that I have been working with recently. This is the first sneak peak. The whole thing started out as a dress project that I worked on in the beginning of the summer and later it evolved into a small dress collection. In the beginning of October we went out with a car into the woods of Southern Sweden and did a photoshoot. I can't wait to tell you more about it and show you more pictures during January when everything is finished!

The day before yesterday I arrived in southern Sweden to stay at my parents house during the holidays. There is so much snow here - rumours say there hasn't been so much snow in this little town since the 1940's. In the evening I visited my friend Christoffer and we made Christmas cards and decorations. I made some more birds and a paper tree!

This is a kind of kooky but very sweet Christmas decoration that my grandmother used to have. It's just a lot of Christmas ornaments, cones and decorations with a big yellow ribbon in a bowl. It's a bit special but every time I take it out for Christmas it always reminds me of spending the holidays at my grandmother's house and that makes me smile :)

Time goes by so fast! On the 24th of December this blog will be one year old. I really want to apologize for my lack of blog posting lately. But the positive thing is that I have been working on a project over the past few months that I will reveal to you all during December, so stay tuned for updates :)

Today it really felt like autumn was here in Sweden. All the leaves are yellow and falling off the trees and it's really dark in the mornings and in the evenings.

The photography shows the wooden monkey that my dad gave me when I was a kid. He himself had it when he was a kid so I'm hoping it will be passed on for many generations :)

The book with the title "Det blommande hemmet" (The Blossoming Home) is from 1958 and a heritage from my grandmother. The book gives many great advices on how to look after flowers and plants in the home and it has many beautiful illustrations and photographs.

This picture was published in the October issue of the Swedish Elle Decoration 2010 that came out recently. I personally prefer more pastel colours when it comes to home decoration but I still like the clean and sober aesthetics of this home. The use of the colours white, green, brown, grey and beige gives one a feeling of calmness. The aesthetics also feels similar to some parts of the set design in Tom Ford's "A Single Man".

This Saturday one of my dearest friends Åsa got married to her boyfriend Daniel. The wedding took place on an island called Donsö, that is a part of the archipelago in Gothenburg. In the evening there was a big dinner, live music and dancing. The wedding couple looked so beautiful and I'm so happy for them! Congratulations! GRATTIS!

This dining area was featured in a number of British Elle Decoration from last year. It's from an apartment located in Malmoe in Sweden. (Malmoe is a city full of great apartments). I really like the white painted wooden floors and the mix of new classic modern design pieces with old french style, like the candlesticks on the table.

I'm finally back. I've been gone for a while and I left my camera at home in my apartment during the summer. These last few months just went by so fast, I had so many plans and ideas for pictures to post here during the summer but I guess those ideas will have to make it to the fall instead. During the summer I have worked a lot, been to the sea, visited Copenhagen Fashion Week, had a few weeks of vacation and spent much time with my family and my closest friends. I also finally moved to a new apartment after four years of living in a student apartment.

I wish that summer days could last forever sometimes, a bit like great Sundays that you don't want to end.
It's a bit chilly in the air here but I'm sure that the summer isn't really over yet. I hope you all had a great summer so far.

I have started to collect pictures of my favorite kitchens and I'm going to post them on my blog! This particular picture is from the June issue of Brittish Elle Decoration this year. The photo was originally taken by Ditte Isager/Edge Reps.

This kitchen is part of a Danish couple's apartment in Paris. I really like the mix of the new and modern kitchen cabinets, the enameled sink and the rustic chopping board from Ikea with old things like the vintage glassware and the metal garden table and chair, which gives the room a bit of a french bistro feeling.

Last week my aquaintences Felicia and Olle was going on a vacation so I could borrow their apartment in Malmoe for a few days. It was lovely staying there. The pictures are from their place.

Oh, and I also have some good news! I just got a new apartment in Gothenburg! I'm going to renovate it for the next couple of weeks, but I look forward to show a lot of pictures from it later when everything is finished and I have moved in.

I found these pictures in an old issue of a Swedish Elle Decoration. It's from a kitchen in a couple's apartment in Amsterdam. I really like the french style with all the antique details and furniture. And most of all I like the wallpaper with the birds on the cabinet door.

It's finally summer now! These last few months have gone by so fast. Sometimes it feels like it was winter and cold outside just a few weeks ago. This summer I look forward to some vacation and seeing a lot of friends, old and new ones. It feels so nice, I have been longing for summer this year. Now I can wear summer dresses and neat shoes again. I hope you all have a great beginning of the summer too :)

Today it's raining in Gothenburg. Yesterday it was a beautiful warm day and I spotted lovely cherry blossom trees all around the city. I've been looking forward to the weekend. I hope it will be filled with good food, long walks and rest. Enjoy your weekend :)

Yesterday me and my friend Rachel took a trip to Copenhagen. We sat outside in the sun for a long while, ate lots of great food, had drinks and walked around the city. It was amazing!

This weekend I visited one of my best friends Linnéa and her husband Stefan in their cosy apartment in Kortedala, in Gothenburg. The rabbit on the picture belongs to Linnéa. I really like the it - sometimes it's cute and sometimes it looks rather kooky. It's designed by the Swedish fasion artist Maud Fredin Fredholm.
