Late Summer Days

Late Summer Days
I'm celebrating that it's dahlia season at the moment. This week I found a bouquet of dahlias in some vibrant beautiful colours. I noticed that it's been very refreshing to have these colours in my home and everytime I see these flowers I smile. :) I'm also very happy that my favourite flower shop in town has opened again after being closed to make way for a juice/ice cream bar during the summer!

August has been a busy month -  joggling work and the blog doesn't seem to be my strong suit from time to time :) But I promise that September will bring some more updates here as well. Now I'm returning back to the sewing machine again. Happy Friday to all of you! :)

Birthday Girl and Name Day Girl, August 1987

Grandma Signe and me, August 1987
Today I'm having a Throwback Thursday theme here on the blog! :) When looking through old photographs at my parent's place a few weeks ago I found this picture of me and my grandmother Signe. We were celebrating my second birthday at the time, and tomorrow on the 23rd of August that will be exactly 26 years ago.

I feel so happy that I stumbled across this photo in my parents' photo album, because everytime I look at it I feel happy. I guess it was just a coincidence of course, but my grandmother had her name day on the same day as my birthday. I really loved that my mum managed to time my birth on that particular day. Even though my grandmother is no longer alive, I think of her every day - and tomorrow I will also celebrate her (and my parents) as well when I turn 28! :)

I hope August has treated you well. It's been such a lovely summer here this year. I hope it will last for September as well! :)

See you soon!

Places to Visit: Jardin du Tuileries, Paris

Jardin des Tuileries
Jardin des Tuileries
Place de la Concorde
 75001 Paris

One of the loveliest places I visited in Paris in the beginning of the summer was Jardin du Tuileries / The Tuileries Garden - a beautiful public garden located between the Louvre Museum and the Place de la Concorde in the 1st arrondissement of Paris.

It was a very hot Friday afternoon when I was strolling around there together with my friend Ida, looking at all the surroundings that included lovely plants, statues and large bassins. People were sitting in green Luxembourg chairs everywhere. This really felt like the perfect place to meet friends or just sit down, relax and read a good book.

At the west end of the garden, the Musée de l'Orangerie / The Orangerie is located - where Claude Monet's series "Water Lilies" are displayed. And in the north corner of the garden you can find Jeu de Paume, a museum for contemporary art.Jardin des Tuileries Jardin des Tuileries View from Jardin des TuileriesFrom this beautiful park I also spotted this beautiful typical Paris house. I couldn't get enough of the lovely Paris houses and buildings, I photographed so many of them. I loved their varm vanilla colours combined with their beautiful balconys and lovely window shutters. I really do prefer shutters before window blinds!

If you happen to find yourself in Paris - Jardin du Tuileries is a must visit! :)
