What's New And Extended Giveaway!

Aquarello Geranium
Aquarello Geranium
Just writing this post today to let you know that I’m extending the Collected Paper Trails giveaway for one more week. So it will end at midnight on June 6 instead and the winners will be presented on June 7. :) A huge thank you to all of you who have already participated, it’s going to be exciting to giveaway some prices!

Yesterday we shot part 1 out of 2 of the Take Me To The Hamptons Collection. It was super fun and I hope the results will turn out well. The pictures of the lookbook will be published during the first weeks of June.

Last week the awesome photographer Sofia Byström was here and captured my home through her lens: During June I will also publish some of the photographs she took. If you haven't visited her blog before, you have to do it now! :)

May (and the end of April) are definitley the Geranium flower's month(s) here. I love geraniums and this year I got a new kind that I haven't had before called "Aquarello". The pink colour was light and then intense in the the edges and all the flowers almost bursted out at the same time. So beautiful!

Collected Paper Trails by Up The Wooden Hills

Collected Paper Trails by Up The Wooden Hills I can't tell you how happy I am to finally be able to share with you "Collected Paper Trails" - a project that I've been working on during the last couple of months. Some of you might already be a little familiar with it through sneak peaks on Instagram and the bazaar I attended here in Gothenburg a few weeks ago – where I secretively launced it as a test :)

Collected Paper Trails is a paper decoration collection that consists of hand-folded cranes, origami balls in two different sizes and an origami set with folding papers. All the hand-folded items functions as home decorations.

The patterns are inspired by childhood memories, summer, the beach, ice-cream, sunshades, graph paper from my mom's stationary notebooks, old amusement parks, Paris, some graph paper my dad used while making drawings of interior details he built for ships, candy bags, sprinkles, candy-floss, cakes, confetti and my grandmother's cross-stitch embroidery. Some of the patterns derive from old maps and the rest are original designs made by me.  :)
Collected Paper Trails by Up The Wooden Hills Collected Paper Trails by Up The Wooden Hills I have been working with this project parallell to designing the  Take Me To The Hamptons Collection clothing collection and they share a lot of the same inspiration.

As the title implies, it's really about collected trails on paper, old things and memories, people and trips to different places, that somehow leave a track in the heart. I have interpreted these feelings into different patterns.

All the paper items are now available in my shop. I hope you like the collection! :) Collected Paper Trails by Up The Wooden Hills Collected Paper Trails by Up The Wooden Hills Collected Paper Trails by Up The Wooden Hills Collected Paper Trails by Up The Wooden Hills All photography by Up The Wooden Hills 2013.

Springtime and Cherry Blossoms

IMG_19541 Cherry blossoms, cherry blossoms and cherry blossoms. I guess you can figure out that they were going to be one of the flowers of this month here on the blog. :)

Last week I was out in the sunshine and took these photos when the first cherry blossoms had started to burst. When I walked by these trees yesterday they were in full bloom. I have to admit that it was hard to "kill your darlings" when it came to these photos that I took, so I guess you're gonna have to bear with me and scroll through all of these! :) I hope you like them! IMG_19671 IMG_19601 IMG_19821 IMG_19791IMG_19741 IMG_19891 Every year I feel intoxicated by the beauty of these particular flowers - their shapes and perfect light pink colour. These flowers are also a definitive sign of spring. I've longed for this season for so long, and now it's finally here! :)

Work In Progress: Up The Wooden Hills - Take Me To The Hamptons (Summer's In The Air And Baby, Heaven's In Your Eyes) 2013

Work In Progress: Take Me To The Hamptons 2013
Work In Progress: Take Me To The Hamptons 2013
As promised here are the first sneak peaks from my upcoming collection! So much has happened this year, and it has made me busy with a lot of work with the brand, including orders (thank you so much!)! So the new collection had to wait a little. :) But hopefully it's going to be ready to launch during the end of this month.

This time it's titled "Take Me To The Hamptons" and it's going to be an all year around collection for 2013. Even though Up The Wooden Hills is based on the gloomy and sometimes very rainy west coast of Sweden, I figured it can be spring and summer here all year anyway, at least in our minds.

I started putting together the first sketches of the collection in end of last year. Gothenburg was so dark, cold and grey. I watched several episodes of New Girl, listened to Lana Del Rey and Jessie Ware and dreamt of ice cream in pastel colours and summer days at the beach in the Hamptons. I scrolled through Fieldguided's capture of greens & pinks from last summer and felt nostalgic about summer vacations from my childhood that included sleepovers at my grandmother Signe's place and road trips together with my family in Southern Sweden and on the island Öland, located in the Baltic Sea.

Work In Progress: Take Me To The Hamptons
2013 During the winter here I longed for my grandmother's garden with all her flowers that included peonies, lupins, dahlias and roses. When I was a child I used to sit there and look at all the flowers and we always picked fresh raspberries, red currants, carrots, potatoes and parsley together in her garden land. During sunny days we spent a lot of time sitting out on her porch, having coffee under a parasol with floral fabric inside.

On the road trips with my family we always stopped by at numerous rest areas and had coffee that we brought in thermoses and food in a cooler bag. Sometimes we found our own spots near the roadsides by the woods and took out tent chairs that we brought with us, had fika and listened to the birds singing. :)

Work In Progress: Take Me To The Hamptons
Work In Progress: Take Me To The Hamptons 2012In every collection I always try to find the essence of Up The Wooden Hills that is "happy, beautiful and comfortable". I use dress models from past collections and rework them so that they become better and better each year when it comes to fit and look. The fabrics I've used are classic tana lawn that are included in Liberty's "Flower Show Collection". Take Me To The Hamptons also has lots of blues, similar to The Blue Hour from last year.

This year I've also put more focus to my brand's graphic profile and designed a few patterns for my paper tags, business cards, button cases and thank you cards. These patterns are also closely connected to another project that some of you already know about that I'm going to tell you more about here on the blog next week as well. :)
