The time has come to finally share with you these little sneak peaks from my work process in the studio of the Autumn/Winter 12 collection that I will be releasing soon! The collection is titled The Blue Hour, which refers to the time during twilight each morning and evening where there is neighter full daylight nor complete darkness. The fabrics in the collection are mostly inspired by the mood of this particular time of the day and consist of different shades of dark blue with additions of fabrics in black, grey, white, green, yellow and a little bit of red, including a Liberty pattern with nightingales designed by the English textile designer William Morris.
Besides the mood of the blue hour, the collection is also the result of a mixed bag of inspirations found in music, certain people and fictional characters. I still feel that I have to be a bit cryptic when it comes to showing pictures of the garments from the collection before it is released so please bear with me :) The collection will be finished during October. I can't wait until then!
A new thing for this season is that I will talk less about autumn/winter and instead more in terms of titles when referring to collections. This is something I've been thinking about for a while since I've never really enjoyed talking about my own collections in terms of seasons and what's "old" and what's "new". Each collection has always had an unofficial title and it feels great to finally "switch over" and share them with you as well.
Since my clothes are not that "trendy" in their character I feel that using titles is a better way to refer to them and an oppurtunity to give a better glimpse of the themes and concpets behind them :) Further on I also feel that it is a little step towards appreciating and loving garments even more when they are not thought about in terms of "last season" and so on.
I hope you like these first glimpses of the collection :)
