I’m so excited to finally share with you these beautiful photos that Anja Verdugo from Clever Nettle took for her summer editorial Belle Été that was published a few days ago. I was so happy when Anja contacted me a while ago and told me about her ideas for a summer countryside photoshoot that she was “putting together a wardrobe with light, natural and summery pieces” for and asked me if I wanted to send something along. I sent a sample of an Emilia dress in a light blue Liberty fabric with a white floral pattern that I thought might reflect a summery feeling.

The shoot took place at an empty old historic house called the Bybee-Howell house located on Sauvie Island in Portland and the wardrobe also featured lovely pieces from independent designers Nadinoo and Anna Allen. Anja worked with a small team, including stylist Megan Hart from Summerland, whom she also did the wonderful shoot La Dance with earlier this year.

Seeing these photos makes me long for summers like this in my parents old house in the country where you could just sit out on the porch and read a good book or lay flat on the back in the grass all day long.

Thank you Anja for letting me contribute to this lovely shoot. It was such a great honour to have the Emilia dress captured so beautifully and to have it featured together with two other designers that I admire so much.

I hope you like the pictures! If you want to see more of the shoot you can visit the Clever Nettle blog and Nadinoo’s blog.

  1. Raquel: Thanks for commenting :) I'm so glad you love this shoot!

Kathryn: Thank you! It is indeed a gorgeous series :) Anja is such a great photographer and the styling, setting and everything was just perfect :)

  2. Just lovely, so delicate and feminine. My favourite is the light blue dress, that would fit nicely into my collection!
